The latest on Dayimani's move to Stormers
TRANSFER NEWS: Racing 92 have officially confirmed that superstar flanker Hacjivah Dayimani will head back to South Africa permanently.
On Tuesday, Rugby365 reported that Dayimani is set to rejoin the Stormers.
While a reliable source indicated that the exact duration of the deal was not yet finalised – suggesting it could run until the end of the season or possibly longer – Racing 92 have now confirmed that the move is permanent, bringing his stint in France to an early end.
In an official statement, the French club revealed that the decision was taken for personal reasons to allow the 28-year-old to be with his family.
“Having always behaved in an exemplary manner with the club and his teammates, Racing 92 has given its agreement to facilitate this premature departure,” Racing 92 confirmed.
“Arriving at the club in the 2024–2025 season, Dayimani has worn the Ciel et Blanc jersey 19 times.
“Racing 92 thanks Dayimani for his commitment and wishes him the best for the rest of his career.
“For his part, Hacjivah thanks Racing 92 for the trust placed in him and wishes them every success for the end of the season.”
Timely boost for Stormers
Dayimani could be available for the Stormers’ upcoming clash against the Lions at Ellis Park on February 28.
The dynamic loose forward played an integral role in the Stormers’ 2021/22 United Rugby Championship title-winning campaign and arrives at a crucial time as John Dobson’s side battles a mounting injury crisis.
Fellow loose forward Ruan Ackermann has been ruled out long-term, while locks Salmaan Moerat and Ruben van Heerden are sidelined for extended periods.
Springbok utility forward Ben-Jason Dixon is expected to shift to lock from his customary No. 7 role to help cover the shortage.
Dayimani’s ability as a lineout jumper will bolster the Stormers in an area that has recently come under pressure, particularly in their clash against the Sharks.
Merci Hacjivah🫶
Le Racing 92 et Hacjivah DAYIMANI mettent un terme à leur collaboration d’un commun accord.
Cette décision, prise pour des raisons personnelles, permettra au 3ème ligne sud-africain de retourner en Afrique du Sud auprès des siens.
