VIDEO: Feinberg-Mngomezulu opens up on injury struggles
WATCH as Springbok and Stormers utility back Sasha Feinberg-Mngomezulu opens up on his injury struggles during the course of the 2024-25 season.
The 23-year-old SA Rugby Young Player of the Year suffered a knee injury whilst on Springbok duty during the 2024 Rugby Championship.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s injury troubles resurfaced again in his return match for the Stormers on November 30 against the Sharks, where he suffered another setback.
He made his second return against the Lions at Cape Town Stadium, and this time suffered a hip pointer injury after being tackled hard by prop Asenathi Ntlabakanye during the first half.
The versatile back made his third comeback for the season against the Scarlets on March 22, where the Stormers claimed a bonus-point win and he earned the player of the match award, playing the full 80 minutes.
He backed it up with another start against Ulster in an agonising loss, but Feinberg-Mngomezulu said he is grateful to be back after his injury struggles.

“From September [2024] until March [2025] I’ve had 90 minutes of rugby under the belt, which is almost seven months,” Feinberg-Mngomezulu told @rugby365com.
“I have played more minutes in the last two games than I did in the past seven months, so I give myself a bit of leeway to make the odd mistake.
“That’s what will keep me going. I don’t want to be too hard on myself in that regard.
“Getting back on the field, doing what I love with the guys that I love is a special feeling.
“I’m extra grateful now to play, especially after such a long lay-off.
“To come back at a competitive part of the competition is a great time to be back and provide good answers for the boys.”
