VIDEO: RG a 'book of information' on the Bulls

Springbok lock RG Snyman will be a glorious and grand attraction at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

And while the double World Cup-winning Springbok may still have a significant following in Pretoria, he is an asset to the visitors, Munster, in a crunch United Rugby Championship face-off with the Bulls.

As the Stormers found out to their detriment in the 2023 URC Final, the 29-year-old can be a handful.

In the dash for advantageous play-off places, the match is vital.

Sitting in third place on 45 points (nine behind the table-topping Leinster) the hosts are just two points ahead of fourth-placed Munster.

The Munster squad departed Ireland on Monday and arrived in Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon.

The availability of the two-time World Cup-winning Springbok, Snyman, is still to be formally confirmed.

Snyman was ruled out of the 14-24 Champions Cup loss to Northampton Saints earlier this month due to ‘illness’.

However, Munster attack coach Mike Prendergast said they are hopeful Snyman will be part of the matchday squad at Loftus Versfeld.

“He is itching to get back,” he told @rugby365com, adding: “It is great for him to be back here [in Pretoria].

“Hopefully he will be fully loaded.”

Prendergast said Snyman will be a major boost for Munster if he takes to the field, one of those players who ‘lighten up’ people around him.

“He is experienced and I have tapped into that from an attack point of view and Denis [Leamy] has tapped into that from a defence point of view – how to approach the game against the Bulls.

“He has been around and is from here.

“Not only does he know the area, but he knows their players.

“He is a book of information when it comes to that.

“It is up to us as coaches to narrow that information down, simplify it and get it across [to the players].

“He is massively important for us from now to the end of the season.”
