VIDEO: Sandi thankful to learn from the best

Sazi Sandi is in line for a possible start against Ulster at Ravenhill Stadium this weekend after Frans Malherbe returned to South Africa for a mandatory (Springbok) rest.

Fellow tighthead prop, Neethling Fouché has joined the squad following the birth of his son.

The 26-year-old Sandi praised his fellow tighthead teammates for taking him under their wing and guiding him in the right direction.

“It’s been awesome [being groomed by Frans Malherbe, Brok Harris and Neethling Fouche],” Sandi said.

“After a scrum session, there are times when you don’t know what you’re feeling.

“Especially the last few years growing up around them.

“They’ll lend and ear and chat with me, and whatever I’m feeling, they’ll know exactly how I’m feeling.

“It helps me understand the process and what is going on in the scrum.

“You get to a point where you first focus on your job and how you must be better.

“Then you understand how the whole pack is working and learn more with each conversation.

“Guys like Brok [Harris], Neethas [Neethling Fouche] and Franna [Frans Malherbe], they’re very helpful.

“The information has been invaluable. It’s helped my development as a player as well.”
