VIDEO: The Johan Goosen update that will surprise Bulls fans
Springbok Johan Goosen has undergone a medical procedure that will save his playing career.
Goosen, 32, was injured during last week’s United Rugby Championship win over Cardiff.
The 13-times capped Boks limped off 11 minutes into the Bulls’ URC Round 17 clash in Pretoria, raising fears that the latest setback could mark the end of his playing career.
Goosen’s knee issues have been well-documented.
The first of his many setbacks started as a youngster when he was replaced in the Baby Boks squad by Handré Pollard back in 2012.
Since then, a string of knee injuries has hampered what once seemed a limitless trajectory.
Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White, when asked for an update on Goosen, described it as ‘very good news’.

“He had a procedure with Daan du Plessis and Wim [Hiddema],” the Bulls boss said in the build-up to the Pretoria franchise’s Round 18 face-off with the Dragons at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
Du Plessis and Hiddema are both highly respected orthopaedic surgeons.
“It [the surgery] went well,” White said, adding: “There is no timeframe [for his return].
“They are confident that if everything goes well, we could have him back before the end of the season.
“That is great news, considering that when he was injured, everyone thought it might be career-ending.
“I don’t want to say he will be available next week or the following week.
“[However], it isn’t as bad as we initially thought when he was carried off [on a medicart].”
