VIDEO: Watch out Handre, Keagan wants more
VIDEO: The Bulls’ Keagan Johannes is thriving at flyhalf and seems to grow in stature with every performance.
Although starting out jittery against Edinburgh in the United Rugby Championship quarterfinal last weekend, a quick pep talk by the Director of Rugby, Jake White, at halftime soothed any doubts he had over his capabilities, and in the end, he contributed 17 points in the 42-33 win.
This weekend, the Bulls and Sharks go head-to-head in the semifinal at Loftus Versfeld, and Johannes is already relishing the role he will play in that encounter.
The scrumhalf-cum-flyhalf is starting to settle into his role as a general, and it sounds like he is not about to move to scrumhalf anytime soon.
“At the moment, I feel I can bring a lot in the No. 10 jersey.

“That is where I feel I can improve my game a bit more and stay for a while. And that’s where they need me at the moment,” Johannes responded to the question on whether he sees his future at the Bulls at flyhalf.
That is, of course, knowing in the back of his mind that Handre Pollard will be joining them at the end of the season.
“There will always be pressure, and during difficult times, everyone looks at you, but I enjoy it, and I thrive in the position.
“I feel I am hitting form at the right time. I enjoyed the try I scored, and the spirits were very high after that second-half performance.

“Coach Jake spoke to me at half-time, and it was nice to hear he was backing me, and it gave me the confidence to enjoy the rest of the game.
“In the previous two games, I had a few hiccups off the kicking tee, but I feel settled into that flyhalf spot and ready to contribute more.”
