Cobras to 'fight back' against Armentum

The Steinhoff Cobras – who hail from UCT – have promised to “fight back strongly”, after suffering their second successive loss in the 2009 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships this past Monday.

The Cobras went down 5-8 to NMMU’s Barbarians in Port Elizabeth on Monday night – a game that produced just two tries, both of which came in the first half.

“We are not happy, but we have another chance to make things right this Monday against Huis Armentum (from Shimlas),” a Cobras representative told varsitycup.co.za.

“But in won’t be easy… Armentum are in good form and they smashed Majuba 61-19 on Monday night. We will, however, give our best and fight back strongly; the way UCT knows best!”

A loss would be catastrophic for the Cobras, who will be hoping that Majuba do them a favour by beating the Barbarians in Stellenbosch – also on Monday (kick-off 6.30pm).

The Cobras-Armentum game will get underway at 4.45pm at UCT’s Green Mile on Monday, March 9. This Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships fixture will serve as a curtain-raiser to the FNB UCT v FNB Shimlas Varsity Cup clash at 6.45pm.
