Last Four battle in Koshuis Champs
The 2010 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships moves into the Last Four on Monday, with four teams set to fight it out for a place in the 2010 final on Monday, March 29.
Of course, the final will once again be played as a curtain-raiser to the 2010 FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International Final – with many people expecting the match to take place at the Danie Craven Stadium for the third successive season after the Maties, once more, topped the log.
Steinhoff Vishuis, who hail from the Free State University (Shimlas), will be hoping to make it two from two for their university, with last season’s Steinhoff Koshuis champs, Huis Armentum, having been beaten to the Kovsies title by Vishuis.
Standing in their way, however, are the determined Steinhoff Villagers – from Pukke – whilst Tuks’ Maroela will entertain Dagbreek, from Stellenbosch, in the other semifinal.
Strangely, given Maties’ dominance of the Varsity Cup, no Stellenbosch Residence team has threatened in the Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships. Could this be Dagbreek’s year? Time will tell…
Monday’s semifinals will take place in Pretoria – Maroela having topped the Northern log – and Bloemfontein, with Vishuis having ended first in the Southern section.
