UCT's Internal League good to go

The 2010 UCT Steinhoff Internal League will kick-off on Wednesday, April 14; with a few new inclusions set to spice things up considerably.

The UCT Steinhoff ‘Koshuis’ League has delivered many surprises in the past years and this year will no different – no doubt boosted by the Tornadoes’ performances in the 2010 Steinhoff Koshuisrugby Championships and the success of former Nadoes star Marcel Brache in the Varsity Cup.

The Barbarians and 2009 newcomers, University House, have both withdrawn from this year’s league, with Magic Lions and Catsville (from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology), filling those vacancies.

The Magic Lions – consisting of all the old Marquard boys – are keen on causing some surprising upsets this year. Captained by the flamboyant Rob Nichol, and assisted by Club Captain Xhanti Nesi, this team could be the surprise package of 2010

Catsville, an unknown team from the CPUT, are also a team to look out for, these new teams entering the leagues are very unpredictable – especially as they are an ‘unknown entity’.

The teams will line up as follows in their respective groups:

Group 1
Tornadoes
Marquard
Shebeen Boys
Panthers

Group 2
Ikhaya
Clarendon
Smuts
Ubumbo

Group 3
Cobras
College House
Spanners
Magic Lions

Group 4
Wildboys
Kopano
Turtles
Catsville CPUT

* Please note, the group stages for 2010 were drawn up based on the 2009 season.
