Week Two in UCT's Steinhoff League

The Steinhoff UCT Internal League had some great games last week and it seems to be heating up as teams cannot afford to drop points during this week’s matches.

Four teams will be playing their first round of matches this week, as others are trying to play catch-up with the winners of Week One.

Steinhoff Cobras, the league winners in 2008 and third-place finishers in 2009, will be looking to get five log points on the board after tomorrow’s match against Magic Lions.

Magic Lions are the second new inclusion to the Steinhoff UCT Internal League in 2010. The Lions will be no walk in the park, however; their team consists of old Marquard boys and ex-Cobra players; with captain Rob Nichol, vice-captain Xhanti Nesi, Brett Snyders and Big Will Nichol all part of that winning Cobras squad in 2008. So this should surely be the match to watch come Wednesday night!

Other matches for the evening will see the Turtles trying to stamp their authority over Kopano – as they lead the log at present and will surely try to improve on their log points.

Wild Boys play an ever-improving Catsville CPUT team and Ikhaya face up to Smuts Hall – a win for any team will see them top their group. Ubumbo would want to resurrect their campaign against a good Clarendon team, meanwhile, whilst College House will face off against Spanners. (Both these teams are playing their first matches in Week Two.)

With the Tornadoes, the 2009 league winners on a bye this week, the other teams will be wanting to show what they are made of. The Turtles have set the early pace by putting 34 points past Catsville CPUT last week… Can they improve on that? Stay tuned we will reveal all come Wednesday night!
