Currie to lead Fort Hare in curtain-raiser

Lumumba Currie will captain the University of Fort Hare into battle on Monday afternoon as they take on the University of the Western Cape in a Varsity Cup curtain-raiser.

The 2009 FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International officially kicks-off on Monday after the 12.45pm clash between Fort Hare and UWC.

UFH, coached by Left Dakusa and Elliot Mntwekhaya, start with a halfback pairing of Andisa Gqoba and Ntando Kebe while captain Currie is joined in the backrow by No.8 Khaya Makinana and openside flank Toto Tsholo.

The match takes place at UCT’s Groote Schuur fields on Monday and will be televised live on SuperSport.
