CUT edge Madibaz

It was CUT's second win this year and they finish ahead of NMMU on the standings.

There was not much in the way of scoring opportunities in the first 15 minutes before NMMU centre Riaan Esterhuizen cantered in for a try in the 16th minute.

However, indiscipline from the Madibaz saw two of their players sent to the sin bin, which allowed CUT a way back in the game.

CUT took full advantage of the extra man and got on the scoreboard after No.8 and captain Jasper Wiese crashed over for a try from scrum in the Madibaz 22.

CUT then took the lead two minutes before half-time after wing Mauro Bucachane sprinted in for a try. Meyer van Tonder converted and the team from Bloemfontein led 14-7 at the break.

The Madibaz were the first to score in the second half after big prop Nicolaas Oosthuizen crashed over for a try from a line-out deep inside the CUT 22.

The team from Port Elizabeth went further in front when lock Tyler Paul went over for a try under the polls. Bolze converted and NMMU led 23-14.

Thomas Kean extended NMMU's lead in the 64th minute with a penalty before Wiese bagged his second try for CUT to bring them within five points of NMMU.

NMMU then had another player sent and it proved costly as Len Noort scored his team's fourth try from a driving maul.

The game was then put to bed when Van Tonder sprinted in for a try two minutes from time.
