Job done for rampant UJ

FNB UJ romped to an impressive 67-13 win over Roodepoort on Thursday night; a result which sees the Varsity Cup side continue its impressive march up the Grand Challenge log.

The Men from UJ scored nine tries, one of which was a penalty try, to one and were in no mood for charity against their opponents.

No.6 flank JP van Rensburg led the spree against Roodeport, scoring a hat-trick of tries; whilst fullback Arno Coetzee (pictured, right) slotted eight conversions and two penalties for a personal points tally of 21 on the night.

Aside from Van Rensburg’s hat-trick and their penalty try, centre Rouan Cloete, halfbacks André Smith and Freddie van Zyl, and loose forwards Hennie Kilian and Ysel Swanepoel all touched down for the rampant students.

Johan Barker scored Roodepoort’s only try as UJ moved to the top of the Grand Challenge table, having picked up an extra 10 log points at the weekend thanks to two walkovers against Harlequins.
