Last-round appointments made
The refereeing appointments for Round Seven of the 2010 Varsity Cup – an exciting week of fixtures, all of which offer up interesting permutations – have been made; with Ben Crouse, Tiaan Jonker, Mlungiseli Mdashe and Bongani Maloni all in action.
Crouse will get Week Seven of the 2010 FNB Varsity Cup presented by Steinhoff International underway when he officiates the Pukke-Maties battle in Potchefstroom – a game that the home side has to win to keep the pressure on UCT in terms of a second-place finish on the log.
UCT, meanwhile, will entertain Tuks at their home ground on Monday, with Tiaan Jonker refereeing – a game that UCT cannot lose either as far as home semifinal aspirations are concerned.
Mlungiseli Mdashe (Shimlas v UJ) and Bongani Maloni (TUT v NMMU) are the other referees in action in Round Seven, with both matches also offering plenty in terms of something to play for.
Shimlas and UJ are effectively playing a quarterfinal match – with the winner progressing to the semifinals in third or fourth position – whilst the loser of the TUT-NMMU fixture will ‘win’ the 2010 Wooden Spoon.
