Narrow away defeat for NMMU

FNB NMMU suffered a narrow away loss in the Super League Grand Challenge this past weekend – going down 23-27 to Uitenhage.

The Port Elizabeth-based students were outscored by three tries to two and they were up against it in the second half, after trailing 10-17 at half-time.

Winger Lonwabo Funde and No.8 De Wet de Lange – a stalwart during the 2010 Varsity Cup – scored NMMU’s tries, with scrumhalf Carl van Niekerk adding the extras via his boot.
