Preview: Varsity Shield, Round Two
The UWC Stadium in Cape Town will welcome the Impi as both sides look to build on the platform set in the opening round. The Impi would be the happier of the two though as they displayed glimpses of brilliance in their 26-18 victory over Wits.
UWC, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired as they produced a performance they would like to forget despite a 15-8 defeat of Fort Hare. The match was plagued by numerous handling errors and a poor goal-kicking display.
In the other match of the round, Wits will look to gain some momentum against Gauteng rivals TUT-Vikings at the Wits Stadium in Johannesburg. Wits were a few minutes away from claiming victory over the Impi in Pietermaritzburg but a brief lapse in concentration contributed to their downfall.
TUT will be fresh and raring to go as they take to the field for the first time this season while Fort Hare will take a break from the action.
