Pukke way too powerful - again

FNB Pukke racked up yet another huge victory in the 2010 Grand Challenge League – this time a 91-5 win over Union at Potchefstroom’s Fanie du Toit Stadium.

Willem Barnard led the way with four tries, whilst Wouter Watermeyer, impressive loose forward PJ van Zyl and newcomer Charlie King all weighed in with two tries each.

Despite Pukke’s big win, the visitors got onto the scoreboard first when Anton Vosloo scored an intercept try.

That, however, was to be Union’s last moment of joy as the home side scored 15 tries en route to once again threatening the 100-point mark this season.

The Pukke kickers – Malan van der Merwe, Barnard and Juan Jacobs – missed seven conversions between them, which – had they been successful – could have allowed them to notch up a 100-plus score.

Pukke’s scorers:
Tries:
Willem Barnard 4, Wouter Watermeyer 2, PJ van Zyl 2, Charlie King 2, Dirco Rautenbach, Stoof Bezuidenhout, Johannes Seerane, Gerhard Nortier, Jaco Lötter
Cons: Malan van der Merwe 4, Barnard 2, Ruan Jacobs 2
