Quins no match for devastating Tuks

FNB Tuks went on the warpath in the second round of the 2010 Carlton Cup at the weekend.

Following their recent 69-22 thrashing of the Naka Bulle, Tuks – on Saturday – scored 13 tries to one in their emphatic 87-7 win against Harlequins.

Tuks led 35-7 at the half-time break, but were devastating in the last 15 minutes when they ran the rather hapless Quins off their feet.

It was Tuks’ biggest win of the season and one that was needed for momentum and self-confidence as Police will be the students’ next opponent.

Police are the only other unbeaten side in the second round and trail Tuks by just one point on the log.

Boeboes Coetzee (fullback), who scored 32 points, and lock Peet Botma were deservedly named as the Players of the Match.

The scorers:

For Tuks:
Tries:
Andries Boeboes Coetzee 2, Jacques Verwey 2, Franco Mostert, Neels Venter, Renier Wiessener, Gerhard van der Merwe, Hendrik Blignaut, Marius Weber, Henri Bantjes, GD Kotzee, Gert-Andries van der Merwe
Cons: Coetzee 11

For Harlequins:
