Shimlas not celebrating yet
In Round two Shimlas walked away with their second successive victory. On Monday, the Bloemfontein side scored four second-half tries in the space of 16 minutes to win 47-29 against UJ in Johannesburg.
"Two bonus-point wins away from home, I can’t ask for more than that," head coach Hendro Scholtz told rugby365.com.
"We not thinking too far ahead. There is still a lot of work to be done. Obviously, we are happy with the win but we try to focus more on each game and each phase.
"We have a really young squad, so we are building a bit. Our focus is on what every guy is doing instead of the end result.
"Like the four tries we scored. At that stage, everything just went our way. We ran into some couple of half gaps which allowed us to offload. I think for that 20 minutes in the game we played really well," he added.
Shimlas next opponents are the struggling UCT. The Cape Town side registered their first win against CUT on Monday under new leadership but haven’t been a real threat in the competition. However, Shimlas boss is not taking his opponents that lightly.
"It’s never an easy game against UCT. They always come with a lot of fight in them. Even after 80 minutes they are still in the fight. I’m expecting a lot of running with the ball the same as always.
"I don’t think the new coach will impact UCT’s performance negatively and it will definitely not make it easy for us. In this competition, there is no game that is easy. Any team can beat anyone.
“If they click for 20 minutes it is going to be difficult," Scholtz said.
Shimlas are fortunate enough not to have any injuries, apart from Nicolaas Immelman.
The lock missed the UJ clash and is set to be out indefinitely due to a knee injury.
