UP-Tuks and NMMU-Madibaz held firm in their defence and disipline as neither team managed any points by the first strategy break.

The interval did, however, provide the Tuks with the opportunity to rethink their attacking tactics which saw them score a try two minutes after the break along with a conversion. The Madibaz also made the most of the break scoring two tries before half-time – one nine-point try and one five pointer.

Only the second try was paired with the extra two points for the conversation. Tuks fought back to reduce the lead with a second try of their own as well as a conversion putting the score at 14-16 at half time.

Tuks re-entered the fray with ambition, scoring a seven-point try in the first minute of play.

They maintained their momentum by scoring two nine-point tries in quick succession, converting both of them.

Madibaz fought back admirably trying to get back into the game and their confidence paid-off. They got a converted try to get seven points closer to Tuks' score.
