Wales head coach Warren Gatland confirmed Navidi would miss the rest of the tournament because of the injury suffered in the quarter-final victory over France on Sunday.

Gatland also confirmed that Wales would not bring in another loose forward, instead the side will replace Navidi with a backline player, although a decision on who will be called up has not been made.

“He’ll be ruled out, he’s no good,” Gatland confirmed on Monday.

“It’s disappointing for him and for us to have a player ruled out. But we’ll keep him out here. It will be nice for him to stay out for the next couple of weeks”.

“These games are so physical to have only lost one player is a real positive for us. We’ve been pretty lucky, we’re trying to keep everyone as healthy as we possibly can.

“We’ll be looking to bring in a replacement tomorrow but we’ve got to through that process,”

Wales will hope to have centre Jonathan Davies available for the Springboks clash.

He missed the France game due to a knee injury, with Owen Watkin replacing him and partnering Hadleigh Parkes in midfield

Wales play South Africa in the semi-finals in Yokohama on Sunday.
