There were delays ahead of the World Cup 2023 Pool D match between England and Argentina, which resulted in a number of fans taking their seats after kick-off.

Organisers will deploy more volunteers to welcome fans at the stadium, increase rugby-related announcements on public transport and provide greater information on how, when and where to access the stadium, World Rugby said.

The Springboks will face Scotland at the same venue in their Pool B opener on Sunday.

In a statement from World Rugby and France 2023 said: “Fans are the heartbeat of the tournament and we would like to apologise to fans impacted by yesterday’s [Saturday’s] access challenges.

“We are working hard to enhance the experience for all visiting Marseille for Rugby World Cup 2023.”
