Player Ratings: Passion fuelled

Los Pumas out-muscled, out-performed and out-foxed the Springboks to record a deserved 37-25 victory in a historic result for the country.

There was just no stopping the South Americans whose passion and commitment was the driving force behind the mammoth performance.

We rate the Argentinian players!

15 Joaquín Tuculet

A very quiet game from the fullback when you consider what happened in the match.

5/10

14 Horacio Agulla

Remained in the shadows for most of the game but managed to secure a turnover.

6/10

13 Marcelo Bosch

The midfield general claimed 11 points but created all sorts of havoc on attack while remaining resolute on defence.

9/10

12 Jerónimo De la Fuente

While all eyes were on his partner, the inside centre went quietly about his business and showed how elusive he can be with ball-in-hand.

6/10

11 Juan Imhoff

Grabbed a hat-trick in a massive all-round performance that saw him cause the Springboks plenty of headaches.

9/10

Juan Martín Hernández

Received excellent service and made sure he got his backline firing on all cylinders but his goal-kicking was not on song.

6/10

9 Tomas Cubelli

The nippy scrumhalf ran the show and outshone his opposite number. He was quick to the breakdown point, provided his backline with excellent service and sniped around the rucks when needed.

9/10

8 Leonardo Senatore

Bruising on defence and crossed the advantage line with each carry of the ball in a stellar performance.

7/10

7 Juan Manuel Leguizamon

Was a menace all over the park, especially with ball-in-hand and at the breakdowns, despite bordering on the illegal at times.

8/10

6 Pablo Matera

His work rate on defence was second to none on the night and he was truly the thorn in the side of the Springboks, despite seeing yellow in the final minutes.

7/10

5 Tomas Lavanini

Claimed all his line-out catches and was instrumental in helping the Argentines hold a dominant scrum throughout the match.

7/10

4 Guido Petti Pagadizabal

Worked well with Lavanini and did his bit in a brutal all-round performance.

6/10

3 Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro

Put in some massive hits but it was the way he dominated Tendai Mtawarira in the scrums that stood out the most.

7/10

2 Agustín Creevy (captain)

Was literally everywhere and turned the ball over at almost every attempt while doing his bit in the scrums.

8/10

1 Marcos Ayerza

His experience served him well against Vincent Koch as he ensured dominance in the scrum.

8/10

Replacements:

16 Julian Montoya (on for Creevy, 67 mins)

Not enough time to be rated

17 Lucas Noguera (on for Ayerza, 52 mins)

Had big shoes to fill and although he was not quite as dominant, he was certainly no pushover.

5/10

18 Matías Díaz (on for Chaparro, 70 mins)

Not enough time to be rated

19 Matias Alemanno (on for Pagadizabal, 56 mins)

Did not offer much when he got onto the field but the job had already been done.

4/10

20 Tomas Lezana (on for Leguizamon, 65 mins)

A couple of strong carries and some good tackles in his brief appearance

5/10

21 Martín Landajo (on for Cubelli, 65 mins)

Maintained the tempo and standard set by Cubelli.

5/10

22 Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias (on for de la Fuente, 55 mins)

May not have seen much of the ball to make a dramatic impact but his presence was certainly felt on defence.

6/10

23 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino (on for Hernandez, 62 mins)

Had big boots to fill but he did that well in maintaining the platform set by the players ahead of him.

6/10
