TRANSFER NEWS: Sale Sharks have confirmed that they have signed England wing Marland Yarde from Harlequins.

Yarde signed a three-year deal with the club and will join with immediate effect.

The 25-year-old and Harlequins have been making the headlines in recent weeks after his rapid exit mid-season.

According to reports the tiff between the player and club started after he failed to pitch up to training. The wing was consequently dropped by Harlequins ahead of their recent European Champions Cup trip to Wasps due to an "internal disciplinary matter" and was not included in the squad for a victory over Worcester Warriors last Saturday.

In his time at the Stoop Marland made 62 appearances for Quins, scoring 18 tries and cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting wide men operating in the English game.

His explosive pace and lethal finishing were quick to be recognized at international level with Marland awarded his first England cap on the summer tour to Argentina in 2013 where he scored a brace of tries on his debut.

Marland has since won 13 caps in total, claiming eight tries in total, his latest appearances coming on this summer’s tour to Argentina.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond said he was delighted to be welcoming Marland to the club.

"Marland is a very exciting player and he will very much suit our attacking style of play," said the Sale boss.

"Though Marland has lots of experience he’s still very young with his best years ahead of him.

"I am sure that he will fit in perfectly with the rest of our squad and we are all very excited about welcoming Marland to Sale Sharks.

"Marland fits our criteria of international class recruitment and our search for a world-class lock, prop and centre continues,"

Harlequins Director of Rugby John Kingston said: "Marland is a top player and I have a great relationship with him. We have enjoyed working together over the last three years and I want to thank him for his contribution to the Club and wish him well for the future.

"He’s played really well for us this year, but the decision for Harlequins to allow Marland to speak to Sale was made because I felt it was in the best interest of the Club. Every decision I make is with the intention of doing the right thing for Harlequins, and that's the way it will always be.

"I’m building a positive environment and culture at Harlequins, on and off the field, which I believe will ultimately allow us to challenge for honours,"
