SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Argentina head coach Mario Ledesma has unveiled a 46-man preliminary squad in preparation for the Rugby Championship and the World Cup in Japan.

There is some continuity as the squad made up largely of players from the Jaguares’ Super Rugby team. However, Ledesma has added a few European-based players.

Forwards Juan Figallo (Saracens), Facundo Isa (Toulon), Ramiro Herrera (Stade Francais) and backs Nicolas Sanchez (Stade Francais) and Benjamin Urdapilleta (Castres) have all been added to the squad.

Argentina open their 2019 Rugby Championship campaign with a match against the All Blacks on July 20 in Buenos Aires.

A week later they face the Wallabies in Brisbane before finishing the tournament against South Africa in Salta.

Los Pumas’ opening game at the World Cup will be against France in Tokyo on September 21
