Tetaz Chaparro, 34, who plays with Treviso in Italy and is a veteran of the 2015 and 2019 global showpieces, suffered the injury during a Pumas’ pre-World Cup training camp at Faro in Portugal.

Argentina begin their World Cup campaign against England in Marseille on September 9 before taking on Japan, Samoa and Chile in their other Pool D fixtures.

Coach Michael Cheika called up Mayco Vivas and Lucio Sordoni as replacement players for the Faro camp.

The Pumas face Spain in Madrid on Saturday in a warm-up match.
