BlitzBoks power into Hong Kong Final

WRAP: The BlitzBoks are one step closer to breaking their Hong Kong SVNS duck after defeating New Zealand by 26-14 in the first Cup Semifinal.

They will meet Argentina in the Final (13.14 SAST), who snuck past Spain in the second semifinal by 19-12.

The BlitzBoks dominated New Zealand with Tristan Leyds opening the scoring a minute before halftime and converting his own try.

New Zealand’s Roderick Solo was yellow carded soon after, and the BlitzBoks exploited the extra space with Sebastian Jobb, Shilton van Wyk and Ryan Oosthuizen all crossing the line with Selvyn Davids and Ronald Brown slotting two of the three conversions.

The All Black Sevens hit back with late converted scores by Akuila Rokolisoa and Sam Clarke, but the BlitzBoks had done more than enough at that stage to book their ticket to the Grand Final.

The second semifinal between Argentina and Spain went down to the wire.

The scores were tied up at 5-5 at the break, with Jeremy Trevithick opening the scoring for Spain before Matteo Graziano hit back for Los Pumas.

Argentina drew first blood in the second stanza through Santino Zangara, with Joaquin Pellandini adding the extras, but Spain responded through Trevithick, who grabbed a brace, as Juan Ramos added the extras to tie the scores up once more.

Spain were threatening inside the Los Pumas half, but Argentina managed to get the ball back, with Sebastian Dubuc scoring the match-winner converted by Juan Patricio Batac to seal the deal.
