Great win for the Lelos
Georgia beat the Argentina Jaguars 24-22 in the rain at the National Stadium in Tblissi on Saturday afternoon, in many ways a surprise result as the Jaguars had been having a powerful season.
They beat Canada and the USA but the Lelos hung on to ward off their late attack. Georgia scored two tries to one and the Jaguars’ one came in injury time when the Lelos were leading 24-15.
Georgia scored first with a penalty goal and the Jaguars equalled. The teams repeated the sequence and after 11 minutes the scores were level. The Jaguars went ahead when Matias Viazzo kicked a dropped goal but then Georgia scored a try to make the score 13-9 after 26 minutes. The Jaguars goaled two more penalties and the Lelos one, and then the Lelos got their second try to make the score 21-15 at the break.
Each side kicked a penalty goal in the second half and then just before the end, the Jaguars scored their try.
