Hourcade tipped for Pumas role

Daniel Hourcade is the frontrunner to be named Pumas interim coach after the unexpected resignation of Santiago Phelan on Tuesday.

Hourcade, the long-time Jaguars coach, guided his team to the Americas Rugby Championship title in Canada last week with successive wins over Canada A, a USA Select side and Uruguay and is expected to act as caretaker coach of the Pumas for the November Tests.

Phelan, who coached Argentina for six seasons, said he resigned because he felt betrayed when differences among the coaching staff and players came to light following the Rugby Championship.
