Jaque Fourie next Bok target?
Following Fourie du Preez’s brilliant Springbok comeback, Jaque Fourie is reportedly the next overseas veteran being targeted for a Test return.
According to the Cape Times, the South African Rugby Union (SARU) wants to lure Fourie back to Springbok rugby before the end of the year.
The newspaper reported that “a top-level source at SARU” had informed them that SARU are in discussions with Fourie's Japanese club the Kobe Steelers to release him for international duty.
"We are still negotiating [with his club for the tour of Australasia], but things are a bit relaxed now because the guys are on tour.
"Hopefully he can play on the end-of-year tour," the source reportedy revealed.
The report follows Du Preez’s impressive return to the Springboks in Saturday's record-breaking win over Argentina after nearly two years after being released by his Japanese club Suntory Sungoliath.
The World Cup-winning scrumhalf is only available for the three Rugby Championship Tests in South Africa.
He therefore did not travel with the Springbok squad to Buenos Aires for this weekend’s return match in Mendoza.
