Los Pumas star speaks words no one really believes
RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP: Despite their record against the All Blacks, Argentina believe they have what it takes to upset their opponents in Nelson on Saturday.
Los Pumas have failed to pick up a win in their previous 26 matches against New Zealand but their 32-19 win over South Africa in Mendoza seemed to give them a false sense of hope ahead of Saturday’s clash.
The Springboks are not exactly a good team at the moment, but it was a morale-boosting win for Mario Ledesma’s side.
Argentina were good on attack and they impressed with their set-piece play. Lock Guido Petti believes that can be a platform for success against the All Blacks.
“We’re improving a lot in the line-out, this year [first] with the Jaguares, then the Pumas, we showed it,” Petti told the New Zealand Herald.
“The dynamic of our line-out has been very good, we are very quick and have very good movement. I think the scrum and line-out are the keys to the match – that’s where the battle is going to be.”
Argentina will know that they will have to play out of their skin to come anywhere near New Zealand’s level
“It’s a lot of motivation for us. We are very lucky to face them in a way – it’s a great opportunity for us to face the best team in the world.
“We always have pressure. Pulling [on] the jersey of the national team is always a pleasure but also a responsibility, so we have to make the most of it and leave everything on the field,” Petti added.
