Mohoje's stock rises

Mohoje produced an outstanding performance in South Africa's 30-23 win over Argentina at the weekend.

The 26-year-old stood up physically to the aggressive Pumas and he was also a monster on defence, making more tackles than any other player in his team.

After making his way back from injury earlier this year, Mohoje was selected for the South African 'A' squad that faced for the England Saxons in June, which gave him some much-needed confidence. 

He was then called up to the Springbok squad in place of the injured Siyamthanda Kolisi ahead of the Rugby Championship.

"Because I was out injured for such a long time, being called up to the SA A squad gave me a bit of confidence," said Mohoje.

"A lot of players in that team realised their potential and they saw that they are not that far off. It was just hard work from then on and I am definitely glad to be back here [in the Springbok team]."

Mohoje said he did not lose hope of playing for the Springboks again after missing out on selection for last year's World Cup and this year's three-Test series against Ireland.

"I was not discouraged at all.

"You know that you missed out on the World Cup squad and you also missed out on the incoming series, but obviously, as an individual, I give myself excuses for why I am not there.

"I think it's faith. Faith keeps us all here, so believing that you will be back, will definitely bring you back."

Mohoje added: "It is good to be back. The vibe is way different from last year and the guys are here for each other.

"I think we proved it today [Saturday] on the field. Even when the chips are down we were still resilient and we kept on grafting for each other and I think that won us the game in the end."
