‘My hamstring is good’: Kolisi gives injury update before Argentina Test
Siya Kolisi is refusing to put any added pressure on himself as he prepares to make his return from injury for the Springboks against Argentina on Saturday.
After being sidelined with a hamstring injury, the Springbok captain says the past two weeks have given him confidence that he is ready to return to Test rugby.
“I feel good. The past two weeks have been really good,” Kolisi said.
“We trained in Joburg and then we came here. My hamstring is good, and yeah, I’m excited.”

For Kolisi, however, the focus is not on proving a point or making a statement on his return. Instead, the two-time World Cup-winning captain simply wants to get through the Test by doing his job for the team.
“I just don’t want to put any pressure on myself,” he said. “I just want to go out there and do what I can do. Just play my part in the team.”
Despite being a two-time Rugby World Cup-winning captain, Kolisi does not believe his status gives him any special privileges.
“Nobody here is settled, and everyone has to play and prove themselves,” Kolisi said.
That mindset, he believes, is particularly important in a Springbok squad where competition for places is intense and younger players are constantly pushing the established stars.
“No matter who you are, you are excited to have an opportunity to play for South Africa,” he added. “Argentina are a tough team to play, and they will be excited about playing us. Our last two games were tight.”
The unusual timing of the Test has also presented the Springboks with a different challenge, with Argentina forced to select an unfamiliar squad because the fixture falls outside the standard global release window.
That has made preparation more difficult, with Los Pumas handing opportunities to several inexperienced players.
“They have a lot of guys getting opportunities, and we have had to do a lot of homework because their young debutants have not played much,” Kolisi said.
