OPINION: Argentina gave South Africa an almighty scare, but ultimately fell short – losing 18-24 in their World Cup warm-up match in Pretoria on Saturday.

Forwards Guido Petti and skipper Pablo Matera each scored a try for Argentina.

Joaquin Diaz Bonilla kicked a conversion and a penalty and Benjamin Urdapilleta a penalty.

Was well-marked by the Springbok defence and got very little reward for his many runs.

Seems to struggle with the pace of international rugby and his defence needs work.

When you have negative metres, you know the defence had your number. Made most of his tackles and won a turnover.

Was everything that was great about Los Pumas – energetic, physical and non-stop.

Discipline remains an issue. Penalised for an illegal, grass-cutter type tackle early in the match. Recklessly charged into other tackles as well.

Was Los Pumas’ most productive forward with the ball in hand, made all his tackles and won a turnover.

3 Santiago Medrano:
Solid in the scrums, busy with the ball in hand and made most of his tackles.
