Player Ratings: The Fightback
It was a much-needed win for a Nation who are in constant disagreement when it comes to rugby.
Fantasy Rugby expert Andrew Robert Howitt rates the Australian players!
15 Israel Folau:
Average first half even though he scored a try from a break made by Foley, he made a couple errors. Second half he got more involved scoring a second try and making some more potent runs from the back
7/10
14 Henry Speight:
Remained anonymous on his wing, just chased kicks and made a couple tackles
2/10
13 Tevita Kuridrani:
Made a couple bash it up runs, slipped a tackle or two and was pinged for being offside but as a whole, he had an average performance
5/10
12 Kurtley Beale:
A lot of aimless kicking from the centre, he failed to spark anything in attack
4/10
11 Reece Hodge:
Made a couple runs on his wing, broken the line once in the second half but besides that not much more
5/10
10 Bernard Foley:
Kicked a lot in the first half, assisted the Folau try and his goal kicking was accurate. Made a couple basic errors which could have been avoided
6/10
9 Will Genia:
Good service from the scrumhalf throughout the game, he had a lovely show and go try in the second half, he had a good game
7/10
8 Sean McMahon:
Made a lot of runs and a lot of tackles. He made a massive linebreak in the second half and played Phipps in for a try. His best performance yet since coming back from injury
7/10
7 Michael Hooper:
Got involved, high work rate in the first 20 minutes but then went quiet as was used predominantly as a defender which meant he made the most tackles in the game
7/10
6 Ned Hanigan:
Most of his work was done off the ball in a defensive capacity, however, he missed a couple tackles but his work rate couldn’t be questioned
5/10
5 Adam Coleman:
Another hard working performance in terms of getting to the rucks and in defence, effort ,but he really didn’t have much influence on the game.
5/10
4 Rob Simmons
Did not do much besides hit rucks and was used a couple times at lineout time.
4/10
3 Sekope Kepu:
Made a couple decent runs in the match along with a decent effort, His determination to make some runs as a prop got him the reward of scoring a try too, however, he had a couple handling errors too
7/10
2 Tatafu Polota-Nau:
Gave 100% at scrum time, lineout throws were a lot better than last week but as a whole, he had an average performance
5/10
1 Scott Sio:
Got stuck in the tight play and scrum efficiently
5/10
Replacements:
16 Jordan Uelese (on for Tatafu Polatu Nau,50-60 mins for concussion test, returned on at 75 mins):
Made a steal as he came on to win a penalty for his team, accurate at the lineout with his throwing too. Went off after Polatu-Nau passed the concussion test. When he came back on he crashed over for a try which would have made his night memorable.
7/10
17 Tom Robertson (on for Sio, 70 mins):
Not enough time to be rated
18 Allan Alaalatoa (Did not come on)
19 Izack Rodda (on for Simmons, 54 mins):
Mainly a defensive effort, nothing to shout about
4/10
20 Jack Dempsey (on for Hanigan, 60 mins):
Did not do much once he came on, mainly rucked and defended
4/10
21 Nick Phipps: (on for Genia, 72 mins)
Not enough time to be rated
22 Samu Kerevi (on for Kuridrani, 65 mins):
Made a good run and was unfortunately held up over the line. Other than that the centre wasn’t used much at all
4/10
23 Marika Koroibete: (on for Speight, 50 mins):
Chased kicks for most of the game, regathered a ball and almost scored, but generally very average
4/10
