Player ratings: Valiant effort

They may not have got the win but, the Argentineans will be happy to pick up the bonus point away from home against the South Africans.

The Weather truly played into the hands of the visitors with the ball not coming free for the free running Springboks.

The Argentineans did fantastically well to spoil the party and the confidence they gained will make them a bigger challenge at home next week.

We rate the Pumas:

15 Joaquín Tuculet

looked good when he got a chance to run and positioned himself well in defense – looked the real deal.

8/10

14 Horacio Agulla

very quiet game, ball never seemed to come to him out on his wing.

4/10

13 Marcelo Bosch

Sured up the midfield pretty well and was a good link to the back three.

6/10

12 Santiago González Iglesias

Had a lot of tackling to do and did well against some of the bigger forwards as they rumbled through his channel.

6/10

11 Manuel Montero

Played cleverly when he got the ball, using a good mix of kicks and passes to make some yards.

6/10

10 Nicolás Sánchez

Had a better kicking game than his opposite number, looked busy with ball in hand as he continues to grow his reputation.

8/10

9 Martín Landajo

lively even in the poor conditions keeping the fringe defense occupied, unfortunately replaced at halftime when things were drying out.

7/10

8 Juan Manuel Leguizamón

Very busy trying to be the link to the backs chucking in a few kicks of his own but it was his runs that were most impressive, second only to his defense work-rate.

8/10

7 Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe

Was a menace at the breakdown, not just stealing ball but slowing it down for the Boks who were desperate for quick ball.

7/10

6 Pablo Matera

Worked hard on defense putting in his fair share of important tackles.

6/10

5 Tomás Lavanini

Was one of the harder grafters in the Argentinean team making the second most amount of tackles.

7/10

4 Mariano Galarza

Played a bit of a hard-man role for the Argentineans.

5/10

3 Ramiro Herrera

Powerful scrumming performance against the usually dominate Beast.

6/10

2  Agustín Creevy

A balanced game for the captain, worked to carry the ball and contributed with the tackles.

7/10

1 Marcos Ayerza

Gave Jannie du Plessis a bit of a working over in the scrums and looked to get his hands on the ball where ever possible.

6/10

Replacements:

16 Matías Cortese

Not used.

17 Lucas Noguera Paz

Not used.

18 Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro (On for Herrera, 60 mins)

Had a few really good runs and made yards.

6/10

19 Matías Alemanno (On for Lavanini, 75 mins)

Not enough time to be rated.

20 Leonardo Senatore (On for Matera, 57 mins)

Took over in the line-out and did a solid job keeping pressure in the set piece.

5/10

21 Tomás Cubelli (On for Landajo, 41 mins)

Looked good and carried on the hard work from Landajo, but he missed more tackles than he made.

5/10

22 Jerónimo de la Fuente (On for Sanchez, 64)

A late call up but did not have much to do as the forwards dominated play.

4/10

23  Lucas González Amorosino (On for Agulla, 60 mins)

Didn't see much of the ball even with a bit of an extended run.

6/10
