Speaking ahead of the Rugby Championship Round Two encounter with the Springboks on Saturday, Martin Landajo said they are determined to get a win after losing to the Boks at the Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena in 2014 – when the South Africans escaped with a fortuitous 33-31 win.

The Pumas held the lead five times in the match, at one stage having been up 12 points, and the winning score having came in  the 77th minute.Pumas eye Salta 'revenge'

This past weekend the Boks came from behind in Nelspruit, before recording a 30-23 win – the winning points again coming in the dying moments of the match.

"It is always a pleasure to come to Salta," Landajo said, as the team arrived in Salta.

"We had a warm reception, as usual, and we hope to have a good week to ensure we get a positive result," the scrumhalf added.

"The last time we played [the Springboks] in Salta we came very close to winning, as happened the last weekend [in Nelspruit].

"We are determined to produce a great performance and secure the win."

The Pumas had a training session in Buenos Aires on Tuesday morning and departed for Salta in the afternoon.

They worked on both attack and defence against opposition, before the back and forwards split – the backs working on their attack and forwards focusing on the line-outs and scrums.

"We have worked on some of the aspects of our game that we failed in last Saturday," Landajo said, adding: "We know that if we correct certain aspects of our game we can secure the win."

The Pumas have a training free day on Wednesday, while Thursday will have another full contact session.

On Friday they will have their usual captain's run.
