Pumas hungry to break their duck

Argentina are desperate to register their first Rugby Championship victory when they host Australia in their final match of the competition.

The Pumas went down 33-15 to the All Blacks in La Plata on Saturday after showing some encouraging signs in the first half when they took the game to the world champions.

However, they fell away after half-time and conceded a bonus-point try in the last minute to remain at the bottom of the standings.

They face a Wallabies side low on confidence after being beaten 28-8 by the Springboks in Cape Town, which means that the Pumas have a good chance of finally getting off the mark.

captain Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe said that although Australia have struggled recently, there is no reason for his side to take anything for granted as Ewen McKenzie's side will be desperate to bounce back as well.

"The more there is talk of Australia coming here in poor form, the better they'll play, they are the third best team in the world," Fernandez Lobbe told reporters.

After being beaten by a single point in Perth earlier in the season, the Pumas are hoping to turn the tables in Rosario next week but they know it will not be easy.

"It's going to be a tremendous match and in Perth they were not in good form but they beat us.

"Let's hope Australia have a bad match … (but) we're not going to listen to (the victory talk) because that's how things like Soweto occur," said the Pumas skipper.

Fernandez Lobbe added that although it is frustrating to still be waiting for their first win of the competition, the key for the Pumas will be to show patience.

"It's very frustrating for us not to get a first victory but we have to keep growing along these lines and it will come," he said.
