According to SMH, security was beefed up at Rugby Australia’s headquarters for Castle’s safety after the death threat.
It was also revealed that Castle’s home “was the subject of a security review to ensure it was safe”.
Castle resigned as Rugby Australia’s CEO on Thursday with Rugby Australia’s chairman Paul McLean describing the bullying Castle was receiving as “dark forces”.
“She shared some of that with me, which was, you know, I found quite abhorrent,” said McLean.
Castle was the first woman to lead any of Australia’s major sports.
Her departure ends a turbulent reign marked by a series of crises and escalating financial problems.
