Court date set for Beale

Wallabies playmaker Kurtley Beale will face court next year on an assault charge relating to an incident involving a bouncer at a Brisbane hotel in June.

A Queensland state Justice Department spokesman on Friday confirmed the Australian rugby union player's case would be heard on February 6.

Beale faced a preliminary court hearing in July for the incident on the morning before an Australia-Wales test match when he and teammate Quade Cooper were refused entry at the hotel in the early hours of June 8.

The Australian Rugby Union put on hold any disciplinary action against Beale until the police matter was resolved, meaning he remained available for Super Rugby and the Wallabies.
