Effect of ELVs compared

The Australian Rugby Union has a confidential report on the effect of the Experimental Law Variations after their use in the Australian Rugby Championship.

What is available is a statistical summary comparing rugby under the ELVs and rugby in the pre-ELV Super 14 of 2007.

A look at the figures suggests that the game is not much changed – which is a mercy – but that there may be a little more fluidity.

Of course, the ARC is not at the same level as the Super 14 and it was then a novelty. Teams may still find loopholes and ways round and cunning tricks!
