After losing the first leg of their Rugby World Cup qualifier for 2011, Canada roared back with a big win to qualify. In Apia there was a one-sided first-leg qualifier which may well make the second leg silly.
In South Africa the first round of the Currie Cup happened. As is so much rugby in modern times it was watered down by the absence of international players.
In Germany the European Sevens Championship took place. Surprisingly, Russia are the men’s champions and, unsurprisingly, England the women’s.
