Ioane's date with the law set

Australia winger Digby Ioane has been given a revised court date after reporting to police in Victoria state on Tuesday, a day after a warrant was issued for his arrest when he failed to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on an assault charge.

The 27-year-old Ioane, who has been ruled out of the remainder of Australia's three-Test series against the British and Irish Lions after injuring his shoulder in the 23-21 loss last weekend, is set to appear in court on August 6.

Ioane was suspended by the Queensland Reds for one match after it emerged he'd been involved in an incident at a pub after a match against the Melbourne Rebels in March. Ioane and his older brother reportedly were involved in a scuffle over a phone.

The Australian Rugby Union issued a statement Monday saying it had worked "expeditiously with Digby Ioane and Victorian Police to attend to this matter" and had expected the new date to be fixed.
