Simmons blow for Wallabies
The Wallabies were dealt a cruel blow with lock Rob Simmons ruled out the Test against England at Twickenham on Saturday.
He is now in doubt for the rest of the Grand Slam tour with a knee injury.
Simmons slipped at training while doing shuttle sprints and re-injured the left knee he had strained against the All Blacks two weeks ago.
The only player quarantined from contact in the session, the Wallabies' line-out caller slipped during a shuttle run and is now looking at a minimum two weeks on the sidelines.
The powerful Sitaleki Timani is now set to start in a beefy second row with James Horwill, but the Wallabies will miss Simmons' mobility and line-out expertise.
The injury continues the Queenslander's rotten end-of-season luck after being rubbed out of last year's European tour after playing just 15 minutes in the opening loss to France.
Coming off the bench in Paris, Simmons was sin-binned for a dangerous tackle and later suspended for eight weeks.
The freak accident has again prevented Simmons from making his debut in a Test match at Twickenham.
While he played against the Barbarians at the ground two years ago, injury and suspension have robbed him from playing against England at the famous venue.
