Springboks by the numbers

SPOTLIGHT: South Africa may have a superior Test record to Australia, but Brisbane is not a place where the Springboks have had much success.

The Boks and Wallabies have contested 93 Tests – with SA winning 50, losing 40 and there were three drawn matches.

SA have scored 1 860 points, conceded 1 653; scored 218 tries and conceded 170.

The highest score was the Boks’ 61-22 win in Pretoria in 1997.

SA’s biggest win was by 45 points (53-8 in Johannesburg in 2008).

There has only been one Bok win in Brisbane, a 38-12 win at Lang Park in September 2013.

Their biggest-ever loss to Australia was the infamous 0-49 implosition in Brisbane (also Lang Park) in July 2006.

* Frans Malherbe will extend his number of starts at tighthead prop to 60 Tests, trailing only Tendai Mtawarira (102) and Os du Randt (75).

* There are 335 caps in the backline, with 501 caps among the forwards. On the bench, there are a further 269 caps.
* The average caps per player in the backline is 47, the forwards 62, while the players on the bench average 33.
