Again we give some statistics from the seven matches played in the Super 14, Week 3.
Sanctions
There were yellow cards there may well be citings. If necessary we shall add to the list.
The yellow cards this week went to Francis Fainifo, Peter Hynes, Tom Donnelly, Wycliff Palu, Johan Ackermann, Danie Rossouw and JP Nel.
Nel gave an example of the damage a yellow card can do. He was sent to the sin bin when the Bulls led 15-10. When he emerged the Sharks were leading 29-15.
Digby Ioane was the first player cited – for a dangerous tackle – and he was suspended for three weeks. One presumes that his tackle was worse than Francis Fainifo’s which in turn was worse than John Afoa’s. There have been other citings – JP Nel of the Bulls for a dangerous tackle and Jaco Engels of the Bulls for a punch which opened Johann Muller’s eye.
