JUNE SPOTLIGHT: Australia’s 18-9 win over Ireland is certainly a step in the right direction says lock Izack Rodda.

The Wallabies impeccable defensive display made sure they kept the No.2 ranked side Ireland to nil tries, while the hosts scored two five-pointers during the win in Brisbane.

The win saw Micheal Cheika’s men moved above England into third place on the World rankings.

The Wallabies will be vying to wrap up the series in the second Test in Melbourne on Saturday, however, lock Izack Rodda revealed that there are still a few areas that need attention, particular their line-outs.

“It was a good win at the weekend, but there are a few things we need to improve,” Rodda said, adding: “We haven’t been together that long so just getting the combinations working together and working on our triggers like our line-outs. But, we heading in the right direction,”

Ireland will be determined to avenge the defeat and more likely to field a much stronger side with Grand Slam heroes Johnny Sexton, Cian Healy, Sean Cronin and Tadhg Furlong tipped to make a return to the starting XV – something lock Rodda already expect.

“I reckon they are going to come out firing,” the lock said, adding: “I expect they going to come more aggressive and fast pace,”
