Wallabies call on Mowen

Brumbies captain Ben Mowen has joined the Wallabies squad as cover for Western Force No.8 Ben McCalman, who is suffering with a shoulder injury ahead of the Test against Scotland on Tuesday.

The uncapped 27-year-old, who has been in impressive form this season leading the Brumbies to the top of the Australian Super Rugby conference, has previously represented Australia at school and Under-21 level, as well as featuring for the Australian Sevens side.

It is likely that McCalman, who was the incumbent Test No.8 from last year, will remain with the squad in the short term to work with the Wallabies medical staff on his rehabilitation from the injury.

Mowen, who is in his first season as Brumbies captain, led the side to a 27-19 win over the Melbourne Rebels in Friday's Super Rugby derby, which maintained the Canberra-based outfit's lead at the top of the Australian Conference standings.
