Wallaby prop sidelined for months

INJURY UPDATE: Australia prop Tom Robertson will undergo surgery next week after scans confirmed he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The loosehead prop will be out of action for six months, however Michael Cheika along with Australia are hopeful he will be fit for the next year’s World Cup in Japan, Rugbycomau reported

Robertson injured his knee during a training ahead of the final Rugby Championship clash with Argentina in Salta last weekend.

The injury to Robertson opens the door for experienced Test prop James Slipper to step back into the Wallabies frame, as early as the Spring Tour.

Slipper, the 86-Test cap prop, has been back in strong form for Queensland Country since returning from a drug ban this season.

Meanwhile, star centres Samu Kerevi and Tevita Kuridrani could be fit for the November Test series trip.

Neither Kerevi or Kuridrani will line up for their NRC sides this weekend.

But it’s understood Kerevi, whoa four-month lay off due to surgery on a ruptured biceps suffered in June, could link up with the Wallabies in Wales a week later.
