These were two strong, evenly matches sides.
Half way through the first half scrumhalf Larissa Muldoon scored a try for Ireland, which her halfback partner Nora Stapleton converted.
Just before 30 minutes left wing Muihalia Murphy scored for Australia, to make the half score 7-5 to Ireland.
Flank Shannon Parry's try gave Australia a 10-7 lead but tries by replacements Ciara Griffin and Sophie Spence took the score to 19-10.
With just five minutes left centre Kayla Sauvao scored a try for Australia. Ashleigh Hewson's conversion ended the match.
Each side scored three tries. The difference in the final score was just two conversions to one.
